Veda Slovena Bulgarian Choir London

Veda Slovena Bulgarian Choir is a London based mixed-voice choir specialising in traditional Bulgarian vocal music.  Established in early 2013, the group went on to become Choir of the Day in the Open category of the Croydon audition round of Choir of the Year 2014 and has performed extensively, most notably at Brandenburg Choral Festival, Sangerstevne International Choral Festival, The Convent in Stroud, The Green Note, Chorus Festival at the Southbank and Voices Now 2015 at the Roundhouse. In 2015 Veda Slovena were special guests on A World In London on Resonance FM and performed on The Choir on BBC Radio 3 live from the Roundhouse.

The choir’s repertoire encompasses authentic antiphonal and diaphonic singing, modern 3 to 6 part arrangements and Orthodox chants, performed in original Bulgarian dialects and Church Slavonic.

The group is led by native Bulgarian singer Eugenia Georgieva who provides vocal training, choral advice and pronunciation coaching. She directs and sings with the lauded Perunika Trio and vocal fusion band YANTRA, and has lead numerous Bulgarian singing workshops, most recently for Musicport Festival, Sound Connections and Voices Now 2015 at the Roundhouse. Her teaching style targets both individual voice production and choral skills development, weaving the unique Bulgarian vocal technique into the fabric of classical choral practices.
