Work with us – Voices Now Choir Research Paid Internship

Written by Published in Blog Post, Voices Now Blog

Do you love choirs? Are you passionate about the impact singing in choirs can have on members?

Voices Now is passionate about choirs and we really want to know how may choirs there are in the UK.

There a loads of choir networks and organisations in the UK but there are quite literally thousands of choirs out there who are just doing it on their own.

Yet nobody knows what sort of choirs, where they are or even how many there are!

Voices Now would like to find out. And give those choirs a voice.

The evidence for measurable benefits in terms of physical and mental health as well as the strong community aspect and transformative effects of singing in a choir is growing all the time.

If, as we think, there are many millions of people singing in choirs every week in the UK, that’s a massive contribution to national well-being and potentially saves the country a considerable amount of money from the health budget.

But we know we’re only scratching the surface. We want to create a movement that celebrates the singing we already have, but also improves access, encourages participation, develops skills and repertoire, facilitates collaborative artistic endeavours and gets the whole country singing.

We need your help!!

We are looking for a research intern to help us map how many choirs there are in the UK and therefore how many people are singing every week in this country. We think that this will start to measure the impact that choirs are having on our society.

Dates: Six months from as soon as possible

Your commitment to the role would be two days per week for six months

Fee: This will be a paid internship with a freelance fix term fee of £75 per day, two days per week (equivalent to the London Living Wage)
